Hill College Volleyball begins 2018-19 season

Hill College’s volleyball team is gearing up for the 2018-19 season.
The team, led by Head Coach Jordan Fish and Assistant Coach Victoria Sandoval, is 11-2 in preseason and was ranked as the number seven team by the 2018 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division I Women’s Volleyball Poll for the week of Sept. 5. They have played two other teams in the top 10, including the number 8 Navarro College Bulldogs. The Rebels were down 0-2 and made a comeback to defeat the Bulldogs 3-2.
“This team has a lot of potential,” says Fish, “They are all in and committed to every aspect of the game.” The Lady Rebels consist of four returners, Alyssa Meyer, Bailey Barnhill, Aliyah Narcisse and Morgan Burns, and nine freshmen. Barnhill, a sophomore libero from San Angelo, Texas, has been a standout for the team in the preseason schedule. “She has had a phenomenal start to the season and has done an excellent job at leading the freshmen,” says Fish.
The Lady Rebel’s first home game, and conference opener, will be 6 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 20, against Temple College. With a nationally ranked team who is energetic and exciting to watch, and free admission for Hill College students and faculty, there is no reason not to come out and cheer on the 2018-19 Lady Rebels volleyball team.
